Anthony Okello, aka Tonny Gist, is considered a front-runner in the Kenyan gospel entertainment industry, specifically for his contribution to East Africa local music. His music journey began long before he could compose his own songs.

Tony was born into what can be described as an ordinary family in a modest country setting. Coming from a family with musical heritage, he spent most of his time listening to worship and praise songs, among other genres. His greatest influences were Don Moen, Makoma and Kirk Franklin, not just because of their musical composition, he says, but also for their unique sound.

Tonny Gist believes that music is a powerful tool in communication and spreading Christian faith. He has represented Kenyan artists in various events in Uganda, Burundi, Tanzania and Rwanda. Because of his charismatic performances, his music is widely considered as a collection of wonderful Gospel tunes, done in a relaxing style.

The artist is the founding President of a non -profitable organization known as HOPE 4 KENYA MISSIONS, the organizer of Touch A Child’s Heart concert and Hope Ablaze concerts, where he nurtures and empowers upcoming gospel talent. He is also a minister of the gospel. He has helped many orphans through his charity events. He has a vision to set up a center that will give orphans opportunity to access better life and education. He is currently working on his debut album which he plans to release in few months’ time.

Tonny Gist is considers himself a musical adventurer, dedicated to tearing down the walls between musical genres.
