On her debut album titled Letters, American jazz and soul singer/songwriter Savannah Lancaster delivers a string of heartfelt pieces. The Brooklyn, New York-based artist’s soothing vocals and vulnerable compositions makes this project worth your while. Nine tracks, including 8 original songs and one cover takes the listener through changing emotions of love and struggles. The lead single, “Better Off”, finds Savannah realizing that she needs to prioritize self-love ahead of chasing what she’d probably never get.
“’Better Off’ is about a toxic relationship and the moment you realize you don’t have to keep fighting for it, or against it, anymore. The liberation that comes with letting go of anger, putting yourself first, and seeking love and validation within yourself. It’s a bittersweet feeling.” ~ Savannah Lancaster
The self-written album receives technical support from a number of musicians, including: John Barron (bass), Julian Vanslyke (drums) and Sam L. Smith (guitar, piano & arrangement). The project was recorded at Tempermill Studio in Detroit and mixed & mastered by Jim Kissling. Coming from a musical family, this album represents Lancaster’s lifetime of honing her craft.
