Jhalaak is a Sufi hip-hop project by Vancouver, Canada based artist Ruby Singh. With a self-titled album in the offing, the outfit is sharing its second single “Mustt Mustt”. This is a contemporary remake of an earlier version created by the late Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Massive Attack. Focusing on India, the song preaches religious and cultural tolerance in an increasingly volatile society. The music inculcates hip-hop rhythms (and corresponding rap verses) and enchanting South Asian melodies.
Jhalaak, which is 8 tracks long, drops May 8 (on Bandcamp) and May 22 (on all other digital platforms).
