“Crushed Velvet” is the latest single from exciting new UK artist Iris Gold. It is another product of her ongoing collaboration with legendary musician Dave Stewart.

Released via Stewart’s Bay Street Records, “Crushed Velvet” was released alongside a music video which captures the song’s playful vibe. The track is one part punk-rock and another part, a sexy disco-pop inspired by Prince.

“The first time I saw Prince in concert he blew my mind, his husky low voice, his falsetto, his dance moves, his band and the way he made me feel… like he was talking directly to me in between songs… was out of this world. I was telling Dave about it and he said ‘let’s write a song about that experience and the way it made me feel’, I had a huge crush on Prince ‘crushed like velvet‘,” reveals Iris Gold.
