California-raised Nigerian singer Adanna Duru is an artist that should be on your radar. Her new song “if i was a boy ;)” is representative of her afrobeat-influenced, pop-inflected R&B style.

Produced by Khris Riddick-Tynes and Rob Bisel, this bubbly and playful song serves as the first single on Adanna’s upcoming EP, NAPPY HOUR II.

“This song is about letting out all those feelings of being mistreated or being taken for granted by men in my life. I wanted to make a song that was super fun and spoke to feelings that all women go through in relationships (wanting to treat men the way they treat us),” says the artist.

“if i was a boy ;)” was released in the company of a colourful music video directed by Matt Kaplan and Riley Lattanza.
