As his first offering of 2024, Dutch musician Blaudzun released “Summer Song” last Friday. With Europe experiencing winter weather right now, the song title seems confusing. According to Blaudzun though, “Summer Song” is in fact suitable for this time.

It’s the ultimate post-Christmas song,” he explains. “I’m not a magical thinker. But sometimes I think there is a causal connection between the delay of summer and the fact that there are people who keep their Christmas decorations hanging until well into April without putting them away. With that foolish idea in my head, I wrote ‘Summer Song’.”

This upbeat and anthemic indie-pop track serves as the second single from Blaudzun’s upcoming album. The singer-songwriter whose birthname is Johannes Sigmond has become known for his unique blend of indie rock and pop. You can sample the sound on his Spotify page.
