World music specialist label Putumayo have released a new album called African Celebration. It is the most recent instalment in their Putumayo Discovery series, a project that shines the spotlight on lesser known acts all over the world.

One of the new album’s highlight tracks is “Afrika” by Bagamoyo-based Tanzanian singer-songwriter and guitarist Ashimba. Sung in Swahili, “Afrika” is a patriotic and dance-inducing tribute to the continent.

Other songs on the album include “Txuska” by Cape Verdean songstress Assol Garcia, “Ouaga-Bobo” by Burkinabe musician Moussa Koita, as well as “Usawa” by Kenyan musicians Joy Msanii and Nes Mburu.

The LP is 10 tracks long and can be streamed below via Spotify. Follow Putumayo on Instagram for more projects from them.
