After a year of not releasing music, Australian artist Dawson is back. His new single “More than I bargained for” arrived last Friday accompanied by a B-side named “If I could read you, would I want to?”. These two tracks exhibit the singer-songwriter’s ambient indie-electronic style.
“More than I bargained for”, which we added to our weekly Spotify playlist, is an emotional indie-folk piece with epic drums and innovative electronic finishes.
“‘More than I bargained for’ is a song about feelings of apathy and discontent in a relationship, like no matter what you try you always end up in the same place. It’s also about not knowing whether these feelings are a result of something changing within yourself or someone else,” Dawson says.
The other song features is heavier on synths and reverb, and is equally pensive lyrically. The artist really outdid himself with this 2-track release. I recommend you listen to both songs.
