Bastille frontman Dan Smith has unveiled a two-track release titled “&” Part Two, which is part of an upcoming album titled “&” (Ampersand). A collection of story songs exploring the worlds of fascinating figures from history, mythology, and pop culture, the album will arrive on October 25th. “Blue Sky & The Painter” and “Leonard & Marianne” are the two new songs making up “&” Part Two.
While “Blue Sky & The Painter” was inspired by Norwegian expressionist painter Edvard Munch, whose creativity was propelled by depression, the latter, a love song about longing and loss, was inspired by the complex relationship between Leonard Cohen and Marianne Ihlen.
& Part Two arrives in the heels of & Part One, which includes the four tracks. Check out Bastille’s Spotify page for all the songs. Be sure to follow them on Instagram.
