Liberian-Finnish artist Jesse Markin delivered his third studio album, PUMP, on September 27th. This follows his 2021 sophomore album, Noir, which was quite well received. Suffice to say, there was great anticipation for this new offering.

And PUMP doesn’t disappoint. The 13-song LP showcases Markin’s eclectic sound; he usually blends hip hop, indie, pop, rock, R&B, afrobeats, and electronic elements to create totally captivating tunes.

The album’s focus track “Radical Theory” is especially impressive.

“One of the hardest things for me is to look at both sides of the story, therefore I end up leading with Perspective,” Markin says about this track. “This song serves as a declaration where I go through different attributes and identifiers that represent love, continuing with the theme of the album. What does it mean to me? Why do we need it and where does it come from? Is it just a mechanism for bonding or something much more? I’m just asking for a friend.”

The well is well sequenced, each track flowing smoothly into the next. Stream PUMP entirely via Spotify and follow Instagram.
