Leo Sawikin‘s brand of rock music combines the catchiness of pop with the sincerity of indie-folk, each of his songs steeped in evocative storytelling.

The New York City artist’s newest offering, “Am I Ever Going To Fly Again”, gives new listeners an idea of what Leo is all about. It also serves as the final single arriving ahead of his debut album, Till You’re Somebody Else. The whole LP was recorded by producer Phil Ek and mastered by Greg Calbi.

“Am I Ever Gonna Fly Again” was inspired by an impactful experience Sawikin had while travelling through Europe, comparing it with another trip he took the following year.

This time I was traveling from London to Frankfurt,” says Sawikin. “I wrote the lyrics after a night of excess in Cologne. I woke up feeling hungover, depressed, and feeling particularly hopeless because there I was in Germany, supposedly living out my dream, and I was still miserable.”

I haven’t been able to stop listening to this song — it’s so gripping. As you give “Am I Ever Gonna Fly Again” a spin, be sure to follow Leo Sawikin on Instagram.
