Mexican-American artist Obed Padilla won’t allow himself to be pinned down by genres. At least that is the feeling I got the moment I heard his newest single, “Rainforest”.
With the California singer and multi-instrumentalist’s sights set on his upcoming EP titled Rodeo Clown, this song is billed as the first single.
“Rainforest” is a rhythm-driven Spanglish song that features lulling indie pop melodies and silky smooth vocals.
“They say there are 5 stages of grief and ‘Rainforest’ represents acceptance. ‘Rodeo clown’ as a whole is the 6th stage of grief–being late to the funeral and feeling like the clown because everyone else has already moved on from things I never dealt with. ‘Rainforest’ is a song about trying to move on, not being able to, and sitting in the present and learning to be ok with that,” Obed shares.
He paired this irresistibly catchy and nostalgia-inducing song with a charming one-take music video set against a breathtaking sunset.
