The first single of the year for Dominic Donner is christened “deadly silence”. It finds the German artist and producer lifting the lid on his struggles with anxiety and panic attacks.
“This song is about how the voice in my head became my biggest enemy,” Dominic shares.
“Whenever there was silence, whenever there should’ve been peace, I was reminded that in my world, things worked a little differently. It felt like there was a dark, depressed, overthinking version of myself living inside my head (‘it’s all in my head’). I’m an introvert, so I liked being by myself, but what if being by yourself becomes dangerous?”
“deadly silence” features dark, atmospheric production, which suits the melancholic lyrics. Besides being a master at crafting soundscapes, Donner is also a powerful singer, and is perfectly illustrated on this cathartic indie/alt pop track.
There are moments in one’s life when songs like “deadly silence” prove absolutely useful. So, do save this track in your playlist.
