Ribongia is not only an exciting Australian artist, but he is also a global citizen. His new song titled “Gone” features Paris-based, Reunion Island artist Bastien Picot and is the follow up to his successful album, MAAT. The gloomy-yet-therapeutic song captures the trials of someone dealing with the loss of a loved one.
About the record, Ribongia says: “After experiencing a tough time due to the loss of my father and a rough break up, I exiled my self to Reunion Island to complete an artist residency. While I was there I got to hang out with Bastien Picot, local singer and total legend. We spoke at length about obsessive thoughts related to the loss of someone and how stupid our brains can be in these circumstances. The lyrics of ‘Gone’ were born from these conversations.“
We first got wind of Ribongia’s music in 2014 when the Sydney-based producer released his debut EP, It Began.
As a creative, he is drawn to new, indigenous sounds and this reflects on his music which blends different flavours. He goes further to add a shade pop into these creations.
