With today’s release of their debut album, Swedish outfit Vargas & Lagola can now count themselves fully introduced to the fans and industry. The LP is titled The Butterfly Effect and spans 11 solid tracks. The production/songwriting duo made up by Vincent Pontare and Salem Al Fakir first appeared on our radar late last year and Aipate got to share their single “Forgot To Be Your Lover” (which is included in the project).
“Hurts To Be Hurt” is the highlight track — and you can listen to it above. This one is an emotive song which is ingrained with a melodic blend of pop and rock. And, well, such is what to expect in the album.
“This first album is our attempt to give the outside world a more nuanced palette of our musical landscape, and it really means the world to us to finally share it,” Vargas & Lagola comments. “We try not to set any boundaries for our work. Most songs that we like are based on a similar mindset and construction, and in the end, the most important thing isn’t if they come out as hip hop, pop or rock.”
