AfriCali is a collective with diverse musical influences and each of their releases is a journey to explore fusion sounds. Listening to California-based outfit’s new album Taught Of A Culture is another opportunity to appreciate the legacy of Afrobeat.

“Daughters of the Sun” is one of the songs on the LP. It is a jazzy and soulful track with a funky base-line, snaring percussion and hints of classic rock. The infusion of hip-hop not only gives this piece a modern twist but also allows for the proper articulation of a topic so universal: the appreciation of life.
