Sometimes, fewer is better and nowhere is that more epitomized than on Cameron Hayes debut EP, Medicine. The British alt-pop singer-songwriter’s first project is 3 tracks long — and an outstanding collection.
Including two previously released singles “Drown” and “Superego”, the EP is completed by the title-track, “Medicine”. This, in particular, is an emotive and dark-themed electro-pop/rock song inspired by a frustrating end to a relationship.
“’Medicine’ is about coping with the downfall of a relationship, when you harbour feelings of anger and resentment but also sadness as you don’t understand what went wrong, and you’re at the point where you need some form of ‘medicine’ to be able to cope,” Hayes says as she describes the song.
The artist says that the 3 songs on the EP were written at different points in her life, and each piece complements the others. She goes further to name them as her best compositions yet.
