serin oh lets us into her mental world with her latest single “mm+i”. While the title — a shortened form of the phrase ‘me, myself and I’ — somehow gives away the meaning of the song, the South Korean-born US-based singer-songwriter goes deeper with her explanation.
About the song, she says, “… is and was a way for me to deal with the inner voices telling me that it is me against the world. This song is me addressing where those destructive opinions are coming from – myself. Growing up in the suburban midwest of the US, I looked different from every one of my classmates. As a defense mechanism, I realized that I had developed an outlook of the world in which I felt victimized and isolated…”
serin’s composition is delivered over a track filled with dark synths, keeping the lyrics and sound at the same wavelength. Altogether, “mm+i” is a captivating electropop record that showcases the emerging artist’s sweet R&B vocals.
