Dancehall artist Vybz Kartel and his co-accused, Shawn ‘Storm’ Campbell, Kahira Jones and Andre St. John, will not face a new trial for the murder of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams. This decision was unanimously ruled by the Court of Appeal.
Justice Marva McDonald-Bishop, who led the three-judge panel alongside Paulette Williams and David Fraser, announced the decision on Wednesday.
“Considering all factors, the court concludes that the interest of justice does not require a new trial for the appellants. Therefore, we issue the following order: judgments and verdicts of acquittal are entered for the appellants,” Justice McDonald-Bishop stated in a summary of the decision.
She expressed gratitude to the court staff, defense, and prosecution before concluding, “That is it. The appellants are free.”
