Aussie rockers Joan & The Giants are slowly becoming one of my favourite indie bands, with their melodious tunes striking a chord every time I listen to them. Excitingly, they recently dropped a brand new single called “How Could You?”. This song arrived right on the heels of yet another impressive release, “Feels Like Heartache“.

Joan & The Giants never shy away from imbuing their song with intense emotion. Lead singer Grace Newton-Wordsworth has an gripping voice which she makes great use of.

With “How Could You?”, the Perth-based band served up a dreamy track whose uptempo beat contrasts sharply with its disenchanted lyrics. Grace says: “When a person breaks all the trust you once had in them it isn’t just sad, it’s completely chaotic. I was going through life still doing all the things I have to do like working multiple jobs, playing shows, seeing friends and family – whilst internally, I was screaming.”

The Isabelle Haubrich-directed music video is rather playful, reflecting the song’s captivating sound. This whole project is just lovely. Get to enjoy it, and then follow Joan & The Giants on Instagram.
