Smooth music is what–for lack of better words– I will describe “Apollo Creed Pulled Me Through The Darkness” single by Zack Brooks. In contrast to the title, the song pulled me to the illuminated world of his music. The song is a collaborative effort with singer Amelia Pierce. The song talks about a struggle against anxiety and the discomfort it metes out on the people around you. 
The East Lansing, Michigan born musician moved out to California at 5 and was later influenced by the likes of J Dilla, Modest Mouse, and early 90’s rap/indie rock. In his music, you feel the infusion of these flavors.
