With her debut Dreamland EP in the offing (release date set for 24th August), Athena reveals her new single, “Count Me In”. It sounds upbeat and fun although she admits the writing process involved travelling down that road of emotions. This one takes a break from the heavy and deep writing of the album’s other songs, which mostly express difficult feelings. Maybe, it is an effort of seeking the sun after a cold and dark moment.

“Writing this song was my way of capturing the feeling of opening myself up to love again. It’s not a love song, it’s a battle cry for the heartbroken that aren’t ready to give up. It’s the hopeless romantic’s acceptance that “maybe it’s not going to work out, but the risk could be worth it.” It’s the feeling right before the fall – terrifying, but exhilarating” ~ Athena

Athena is the creative name for Tulsa-born singer-songwriter Hillary Tomlinson, a melodrama-inclined artist. Listen to “Count Me In”.
