“For My City” is the new song from Chicago-based rapper, Neak. The jazz-infused hip-hop track provides a gripping tune, above which the emcee articulates himself using witty and deep lyrics. The introspective song delves into a number of issues plaguing our current society: toxic relationships, race-inspired strife and the love for money. This record was produced by Rashid Hadee and mix/mastered by Pamon.
Influenced by the likes of Mos Def, Nas, Lupe Fiasco, Common and Jay Z, Neak’s music is reminiscent of the age of classic rap. Interesting still, is the fact that his father is Robert Kelly of the R&B/Gospel/Soul group, The Kelly Brothers. At least, that explains where the creative authenticity comes from.
