“Champion” finds Elina precipitating a cloud of emotions and when it rains, it’s nothing but warm, thanks to her affectionate vocals. The song is the third track the Swedish singer/songwriter releases after her debut single, “Wild Enough” and follow up, “Here With Me“. This record helps build the momentum for Elina’s forthcoming EP. The composition behind “Champion” describes Elina’s use of rejection as emotional defense against her fear of being eventually rejected by a love interest.
“To me, ‘Champion’ is about fear. Personally, when I get scared of losing someone or if I feel inadequate in a relationship – any relationship – I tend to disguise that fear with rejection. Sometimes even with anger. I think it’s a very easy-to-see-through attempt to hide that you’re hurt or vulnerable. ‘I’m scared of losing you’ becomes ‘I don’t need you’.” ~ Elina
Elina, who had built a name in the songwriting world, is now making waves as an artist.
