Amsterdam-based artist Pieternel has shared a new single, “Ugly Beast”. Written in Nashville alongside Femke Weidema and Jon Reynolds and recorded back home in The Netherlands, it is an honest piece about learning to deal with struggles. Pieternel discloses that she was inspired by a lesson she got from a book; the message being that sometimes the only way win the battle is by first facing your demons.

Musically, “Ugly Beast” is a country/folk piece whose sound is consistent with the singer-songwriter’s Americana style. The second single from her forthcoming new EP, the song was accompanied by heart-gripping music video directed by Jasper Goedman. The planned body of work will drop later in the year via Halcyon Records.
