Here is a new song by Ohio-bred artist Brett Castro.

Named “movies in the backyard”, the heartwarmingly nostalgic indie-pop piece delves into moments from the singer-songwriter’s childhood.

“We were always running through the woods, singing around the piano, or shooting YouTube videos in their backyard. They were my escape out of my own world and into one that we made fantastical. Sometimes I feel like I never left that backyard, and I’m still foraging around for that feeling. And so that’s what I ended up writing,” explained Castro.

In fact, he penned the song in his childhood bedroom. In the music video accompanying “movies in the backyard”, the artist can be seen reminiscently dancing in treehouses, fields, and skateboarding down the street.

With Brett Castro working on a new project, this song arrived as the first single off of it.
