You need to know about SEKI, a new musician from Bangkok, Thailand. With his shoegaze-inflected brand of indie pop, the singer-songwriter and instrumentalist names Tears for Fears, The 1975 and The Strokes as his biggest influences.
SEKI showcased this captivating style on his well-received debut single, “Need A Moment”. Now, he’s returned with the second, “Play It Cool”.
This new track is characterized by scintillating synths and delicious pop melodies. SEKI says “Play It Cool” was inspired by an awkward encounter with an attractive woman, an experience that left feeling embarrassed.
“It’s really about trying to capture the awkwardness I’ve had over time just trying to act ‘normal’ in front of people,” says SEKI. “I think we’ve all probably been guilty at times of pretending to be cooler than we actually are, so I’m hoping people will relate to that in this track.”
