UK emcee Coops got to release his much awaited album, Lost Soul 2, on September 23.
The LP was released together with the visuals for “Mass Extinction”. Featuring soulful singer Visaka on the chorus, “Mass Extinction” is involves heavy social commentary. Coops articulates how greed plagues our environment.
Speaking about the album, Coops said, “Before making Lost Soul 2 I had to revisit the original. I didn’t want to replicate Lost Soul and probably couldn’t have even if I tried but I did want to reconnect with the early processes that were behind the making of that first album and then allow it to evolve… It is not a continuation but an evolution. An evolution of sound and styles, writing and production and of personal growth and maturity. However, during the process, I began to realise that eight years on the themes I was discussing, although matured in perspective, were still eerily similar to the original.”
