Cleveland-born American emcee JP Reynolds has been on our radar for a while and the artist is slowly showing us why he just can’t be ignored. His newest offering “Dreamcatcher” was created in collaboration with his collective THE PEACEANDPOWER Band.
This soulful cut pairs upliftingly heartfelt lyrics with a smooth rap delivery. Heavy on live instrumentation, it makes you want to attend JP’s next performance.
“I am, without question, a dreamer,” Reynolds says with much candour. “I’ve fought off a lot of doubt and insecurity and fear to protect my dreams, to catch them. The obstacles are daunting and the tasks sometimes feel overwhelming. The expectations have been limiting. The resources have, at times, felt too slim. But the love overcomes it all.”
The rapper’s eclectic sound is an amalgam of jazz, funk, gospel and soul. “Dreamcatcher” is a perfect exhibition.
