Amayo enters album mode with the release of “Black Magic Sister”

Formerly the lead singer of Brooklyn-based afrobeat band Antibalas, Amayo is considered a trailblazer in the genre. Now a solo act, the musician has just announced his debut album Lion Awakes, due January 17th.

The first single “Black Magic Sister” is magnificent. From the horns to the engaging rhythm section, this song is quite dance-inducing.

According to Amayo, “Black Magic Sister” is about offering blessings for an abundant mindset. “It’s also a prayer for twins and a wish for those who lost close ones,” he adds.
