My new personal anthem has arrived in the form of “slipping” by Nashville artist & producer townsend. The deeply visceral indie pop song is his first release of 2026 — last year, the musician dropped a couple singles, “driving in the rain” and “hard truth“.

Every time I hear a new townsend song, I’m left even more impressed. That growth definitely takes so much effort. And, for an artist who makes music part time, juggling two occupations can be really tasking. “slipping” captures those angsty moments when doubt creeps in.

“Life has a way of throwing curve balls when you least expect it and this song is about just that – working through uncertainty the older i get,” townsend explains.

The production is really good. So is townsend’s vocal delivery, which is charged with emotion. I find “slipping” is relatable.
