It’s really been long since phenomenal singer artist Cindy Zhang appeared on Aipate. This is partly because the Asian-American singer-songwriter hadn’t released new music since her 2024 album, Parallel Universes.

Recently, she made a return with the ballad “Stories”. The new track is characterized a smooth, lustrous fusion of jazz, pop and classical, with Cindy’s celestial vocals gleaming over the instrumental track.

I love how the instrumentation stacks layers of piano, strings and vocals to give the song its warmth and tenderness.

“It’s a letter to my younger self: the lonely girl who only wrote sad songs about love, told that one day she’d marry the person who’d bring those stories to life,” Zhang says about the song.
