Writing from the heart enables artists to get deeply vulnerable. That is the case with Albert Kass, the Los Angeles singer-songwriter whose music always tugs at listeners’ heartstrings, getting them to relate.

Following his 2023 album, Young Old Man, Albert took a break. The comeback singles offers details about what has been going on. The artist named the moody, Americana-tinged alt-rock ballad “fallin’ off”.

“This song is what came out of the darkest period of my life. It was the only time I had thoughts of self-harm, while feeling the unrelenting grasp of a deep, dark depression. I cried every time I played it. Writing and playing it helped me process the grief. It also kept me wallowing in it, reliving the pain and the story I told myself about it. I’m grateful to have transcended it,” reveals Kass.
