Kenyan musician Wayinke has released a self-titled debut album, Wayinke. With her sound stretching from Afro-pop to R&B, she infuses an element of Chakacha — a local dance-centric style — into her songs.
The 10-track project was launched last weekend, during this year’s Ongea Summit, where she performed the songs backed by a live band. It had, however, premiered earlier, on Hero radio, a Kenyan FM station. Prior to the release, the LP received some promo in the form of Spotify play-listing and a Boomplay (streaming service by Tecno Mobile’s parent company) campaign.
The songstress had debuted into the scene with the release of “Ni Yeye” single. Her latest music video, “Zama”, like the previous one, is Vevo-distributed. The album’s lead single is “Desire”, another great piece.
Besides music, she is also an actress and professional model who’s won different awards on the runway. This album considered, she may well be receiving some music accolades soon. She is fully geared to embark on a media and performance tour.
You can buy the album on iTunes, Boomplay and all other streaming platforms.
