It is 2019, and seemingly it’s going to be a progressive year for both electronic outfit EA Wave and Benga Beat singer/songwriter and performer, Makadem. They have collaborated on a new song titled, “Alango”, a track which serves as the first single off the Nairobi-based group’s upcoming album. Titled East African Wave, the project will feature artists — and sounds — from across the wider Eastern African region, including: Ethiopia, Sudan, Uganda, Tanzania and Somalia.

“Alango” finds Makadem narrating a story (in English and Dholuo) of a village girl who, stunningly, is all about lavish living. The singer’s sharp vocals beautifully blends into the EA Wave’s groovy, house music-flavoured tune, properly expressing the writer’s gripping composition. Stream it via Soundcloud, Spotify and or these other digital platforms.
