Hear “When The Levee Breaks” by Sci-Fi Romance

“When The Levee Breaks” is a 1929 country blues song by Kansas Joe McCoy and Memphis Minnie. However, the most recognized version is that by Led Zeppelin band. Essentially, the song was inspired by the Great Mississippi Flood of 1927. That’s why, when Hurricane Harvey wrecked havoc is Houston, Sci-Fi Romance frontman and singer-songwriter Vance Kotrla was moved to have them make their own version of the classic.

The LA-based folk band’s rework is more stripped-down, that is, in comparison to the Led Zeppelin version. The track is taken from their upcoming album The Rain Becomes a River.
