Slopes releases debut single and video, “Prove Them Wrong”

“Prove Them Wrong” is the song that introduces Norwegian singer-songwriter and producer Slopes (born Dag Holtan-Hartwig) to the world. And, boy, what a strong debut!

“Prove Them Wrong” is a melancholic indie-pop song about a doomed romance, with the artist contrasting the crazy optimism at the beginning with the eventual heartbreak. He explains: “It’s about a couple in a small town being told by everyone they’re not right for each other. Nobody believes in the relationship, but they’re determined to prove everyone wrong. Things don’t work out, but in spite of it all they arrive at a place of acceptance. There’s a spark of hope in the song: it was a ride, it was intense, but things are fine now.”

Slopes recruited director Doan M. Nguyễn, who then created this equally epic video. Watch above and follow Slopes on Instagram.
