The video for “Fade Out” by SHIMA is here — and it is nothing but refreshing.
“Fade Out” is the latest single from the rising Japanese-American artist and producer. It’s a mellow, exquisite piece of electronic music. Infusing soul, pop and indie, the song is so smooth and vibey.
“Fade Out” is sung in both Japanese and English. SHIMA explains the lyrics, “people these days, especially young people, attach so much of their self-worth on likes, followers, and physical appearance that it really interferes with their ability to have genuine human interactions. In this song, I talk about how you don’t have to worry about any of that when you’re with me, because we can just be ‘floating heads’. As in, bond based purely on ideas and thoughts rather than anything physical. In fact, I think it’s really important that we do this once in a while and really try to connect with other people as if we are just souls floating around in a non-physical dimension.”
