This song “Slowly Fading” serves as my introduction to New York-based singer-songwriter Ren Genevieve.

Lifted from her upcoming EP Everything I Never Said, it’s a heartfelt pop song laced with a country twang (the singer credits Beyoncé, Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus as some of her key influences).

Ren, who is professionally trained, makes music expressing those deep-lying emotions. “Slowly Fading”, for example, captures the uncertainty of navigating a romantic connection stuck in a “just friends” phase.

“The song is a vulnerable exploration of love caught between certainty and desire,” the singer-songwriter explains. “It’s a raw reflection on wanting clarity while fearing what it might change.”
