UK rock music band Holding Poison are back with “Knew I Couldn’t Have You”, a new single characterized by big melodies and reflective lyrics.

The fuzzy guitars, powerful vocals and loud drumbeats combine to give the song its high energy. Lyrically, “Knew I Couldn’t Have You” reflects on how meaningful connections can turn into fading memories.

“The song stems from a situation I think a lot of people have probably had at some point,” explains frontman Mathew Blackwell. “You meet someone and it might only be for a few months, but you build a connection and an understanding of each other. Sometimes feelings and timing don’t quite line up and eventually you go your separate ways. What I find interesting is how someone can be important to you at a certain point in your life and, as the years pass, eventually become quite a distant memory.”

The 5-piece band was formed in 2020 and continue to impressive with their releases, however sparsely spaced.
