The UpRise collective’s debut single “Gale” is a nod to various cultural backgrounds as it blends in a cocktail of genres including trap, Brazilian Baile funk, Afrobeats and hip-hop. The pop-infused record features São Paulo, Brazil-based MC Brankim, with W1zzy (a former member of London-based Vibe Squad trio) and Michael (producer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, a.k.a Mikespro) coming in as part of The UpRise. This newly-formed international group consists of artists and producers and they intend to make more music that samples different sounds across the world.
The video for “Gale” – shared above – was filmed in São Paulo and directed by Konzilla, who then hosted it on his hugely popular YouTube channel.
