With “Family Tree”, De’Wayne Jackson‘s latest song, the artist brings the listener closer home, delivering biographical verses about where he came from, while also indicating his intended direction. Beyond the uptight lyricism and introspection, you get to meet a storyteller.

With ‘Family Tree’, I was inspired to tell my story and the origins of my loved ones. For the first time, I had my audience and family in mind while writing a song. Getting to work with Kenny Carkeet & Corron Cole, we were able craft the perfect mood to deliver this story. I wanted to make a song where if anyone had questions on who I was or where I was going they could listen to this song and get the exact answer. Hopefully through this song they can also get closer to who they are.” ~ De’Wayne

De’Wayne makes music which edge-to-edge combines hip-hop and rock styles. His first project was the Don’t Be Afraid EP, which he dropped in 2017. The following year saw him releasing a couple of singles and also supporting Jessie J and Chase Atlantic on their respective European and US tours.
