Woodes reveals “Queen Of The Night” ahead of her debut album

Arriving alongside an immersive video-game-themed lyric video is the song “Queen Of The Night” by rising Australian singer-songwriter Woodes. It’s the latest single lifted from her forthcoming debut album, Crystal Ball (due 2 October).

The uniquely sounding electronic indie-pop tune combines blasting drums, melodic bass and off-centre harmonies. The singer’s dark and poetic lyrics is perfectly delivered within her warm and piercing vocals.

Woodes is the moniker used by Elle Graham. About the song she remarks, “I wrote it around when the #metoo movement was happening, and in this desert song, a woman breaks through a roof of glass returning as a giant phoenix.I’d also been really obsessed with desert super blooms. When writing this song I had all of these purple and orange desert blooms on my desktop and I was singing at them, imagining being in a desolate barren wasteland, coming across a field of vivid colour.”
