Social commentary doesn’t feature prominently in today’s music. However, for New York artist, producer and visual artist Deca, such is what largely informs his creativity. His new album Snakes and Birds is a display of articulate lyricism by an artist experiencing huge growth. Thematically, it deals with paranoia and inner turmoil, among other emotions.

Focus single “Clay Pigeons”, which the emcee has accompanied with a lovely visual he co-created with Danski Tang, reveals some of his inner struggles. The introspective song shows Deca’s pursuit of self awareness.

12 tracks long, Snakes and Birds was released on 23rd October via the artist’s own label, Beulah Records.
