Grace Acladna has remained a sensation in the London scene since the unveiling of her 2015 EP, Songs of the Subconscious. A singer and model who also produces music and plays instruments, her multiple talents usually come to play on each release.
Acladna’s latest effort is called “Mothers Car”, a moody neo-soul track with hints of dance-pop. The song is about having to step away from an unhealthy friendship.
“I loved her like a sister but she would often use put downs masked in humour to belittle me,” Grace tells us about the said friend. “For years I thought nothing of it but as I started to want better for myself, and realised that she might not have my best intentions at heart. A few years later, I was on my way to a party all dressed up when I noticed the old friend slouched down in the passenger seat of a car with her mother. It was a strange sensation. I felt sad to have lost the parts of our friendship that I valued, but I also felt a sense of empowerment to finally be seen in a moment where I had grown so much and finally felt confident in myself.”
Grace Acladna has a beautiful voice and this is well exhibited on “Mothers Car”.
