With its deceptively chill upbeat sound, the latest single by American singer Aquafox is rather poignant. Called “Triggers”, it’s a deeply personal song addressing the artist’s struggles with excessive drinking. While alcohol was meant to be an escape from her depression, she admits, it ended up creating pains of its own.

I like the track’s production, especially the 80’s synthpop influences. Aquafox’s layered melodies further add flavour to the composition.

Aquafox is the moniker used singer Rachel Mae Perry who is based in Orange County, California. A talented artist who only started releasing music this year, she is already working on an album that will be unveiled in November. “Triggers” is actually her third ever single.

Listen to the song and keep up with Aquafox on Instagram.
