You probably already know about Joan & The Giants. The Australian band’s last single of 2023, “BEG,” was featured on Aipate when it dropped. This year, the Perth-based outfit has already released a couple of singles, the latest being “Feels Like Heartache”.

The song was served up in the form a sad, folksy ballad whose lyrics describe a doomed romance. Lead singer Grace Newton-Wordsworth explains:

“‘Feels like Heartache’ is the most deeply personal and honest song we’ve written. It’s centred around longing for the person you love more than anything but knowing it’s an addiction and isn’t good for you. Being brutally honest isn’t easy, but honesty to us is a very important thing, especially in our songwriting.“

Since their debut in 2019, Joan & The Giants have released beautiful songs that capture the depths of human emotion. “Feels Like Heartache” is aptly titled in that regard. It’s the kind of song you return to time and again.
