24-year-old Vancouver artist young friend (birth-name Drew Tarves) recently shared a brand new single called “Boyfriend Material”. The mellifluous indie-pop song was paired with a playful, drama-filled music video.

Directed by Zachary Vague, and starring the artist and Jasmine Cambon, the visual offers us a brilliant illustration the song lyrics. Tarves elaborates: “I play this character that is meant to be sleazy, and I confront the fact that I am not in fact boyfriend material, I’m really just a sort of fling before the real thing comes along.

I find “Boyfriend Material” quite catchy. I have been unable to get the melodies out of my head since I first heard this song.

You will surely love both the song and the visual. As you enjoy this project, be sure to follow young friend on Instagram.
