With the arrival of her debut EP called sad/happy, UK-based Portuguese alt-pop singer-songwriter zinha (also known as Luisa Chumbinho) has given listeners a proper taste of her DIY-style. It’s only a couple of months ago that she unveiled her debut single, “why do you make me wait?”.

sad/happy dropped last Friday alongside the music video for the focus track, “so blue”.

“so blue” is a wobbly bop with empowering lyrics. It forms the centrepiece of the 8-song EP.

zinha says, “’so blue’ is an ode to the end of something, the empowerment stage of accepting and moving forward, no matter how colourful the ending looks. It was born from the core idea behind the song: the funky bass-line.

This EP showcases the artist’s ability to traverse genres, each song just as refreshing as the next. As you listen to the EP, be sure to check out zinha on Instagram or TikTok.
