After more than a year of no new music from Chaz Marcus, the New York artist is back with new material. The new song is christened “Green Heart, Midnight Slime”, and is a drill-influenced modern R&B joint that not only showcases Chaz’s lyrical and vocal talents but also his musical versatility.

“I’m always inspired by my surroundings. If I wasn’t in New York, this track wouldn’t have been built on a sexy drill-type beat. It’s not about following trends for me—I prefer to set them. Stepping onto this type of beat was like going to the gym: exercising my diversity as an artist,” he remarks.

About the song, Marcus says it came from a humbling experience with a romantic interest. The production suits the narrative of the song, the moody synths perfectly capturing the sentiment in the artist’s lyrics.
